Not!
Haha, turns out Blu and his owner, Linda are pretty sheltered and refuse. But after rethinking they decide to go. The worst part is: BLU CAN'T FLY (DUM! DUMM! DUUUUUUMMM!). And that is where the drama, the action and the humor all come out of over the rest of the movie, teaching to overcome his fear of flying.
It's a pretty funny movie, I wasn't in pain laughing (sadly that's the best laughter) but it is funny and the effects are sweet .I saw it in 3D, but the movie doesn't need it, its great eitherway. The movie is a semi-musical with some great original songs, all dance numbers that celebrate life and the city of Rio; they're not too long either almost like Glee, a quick break. The villain of the movie, Nigel the washed up show bird even introduces himself with a rap, backup singers and attitude.
The characters are nice too, very warm and funny. George Lopez is a Toucan that mentors Blu about living for himself and even about love. Jamie Foxx and will.i.am are two buddies that cheer Blu on, Jewel is headstrong but doesn't trust humans; her only exposure to them is as poachers. Linda loosens up when the scientist working to save Blu's species turns out to an even bigger birdlover than she is. Tracy Morgan is a bulldog who just wants a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T and to have a good time.
The whole movie is just a party, inviting everyone to learn who they are, face their fears and do what they love. It was cool seeing this and being delightfully reminded that it is our God-given obligation to spread our wings and be who we want to be. Two very close friends of mine really lifted me up this week, reminding me who God is in me, who I am thanks to His goodness, and truth that I can believe in this testimony. Back to back days in fact they encouraged me! Then I saw Rio last night and it was like the icing on the cake; my friends preached, then this movie was the gentle wink of god that I am on the right path to being the mature and fully realized JOSIAH.
It's been slow but God seems to have my maturity on his mind A LOT. Even in the movies I watch I am hearing him. I guess, admittedly he put the passion for art in my heart so it makes sense he might talk to me trough various artistic mediums. Showing he cares I guess. His plans to prosper me, my portion of faith being enough to make clear his movements and the call to fly higher and faster into his goodness. I'm very blessed.
So many people don't know how become who they are, they don't draw close to the Father, thinking God is against them and I have felt like that. So seeing more of the picture of who he wants me to be and the ability to be me, more and more and accept my niche or my views or talents just becasue they're mine is very liberating. I just asscept what's mine now. Other's who don't see the value in me have the right to be blind, but I choose to open my eyes and see the traits my Heavenly Father passed on to me and be thankful.
I could go on and on but I'll stop. Rio is a pretty cool movie eitherway. You want cool beats, good animation and humor go see Rio. Oh and this movie has a bird v.s. monkey fight in it too and that's a lot of fun to watch. Go see it!
