THE 48 HOUR FILM PROJECT!!!

This past weekend(May 1st & 2nd, 2010) was the best in a loooooooooooooooooooong time! I was assistant director on my friend Paula Wood's film entry Z is for Zebra for one of this years 48hr project.

The experience was great. The more I work on films the more motivated my creativity becomes. Paula is a trooper!

This time around I did a lot of P.A. (production assistant) work but I also interected with the actors a bit more, the crew as well. Plus I got to be with every1 durring the brainstorming period, the birthing of the script, the detailing of actors, the plot... so much ^_^. We didn't sleep until 4am ...then we got up at 5:15am to get to the location and start production xD!

This whole process just showed me what a team of film makers can do in a short period of time. Its SO EMPOWERING, to be able to shoot and gather so much in a 12hr period or less and then produce a copy of it right after is uncanny O_O. But it makes me believe that anything is possible and that if i set my mind to it and if the team is behind you and they are focused... there's so much to achieve. I don't eve want to doubt what I can really do becuz i think that's what this project is all about. Not the stress, or the rushing or the deadlines, but focus and execution.

So many good things to say about: the actors, the director, the location, the shooting, the equipment, the new friends, the excitement, the job, the goodness of God... this was a great weekend and i'll never forget it.

(((NOW)))

Tonight was the first of about five screenings of the films that were submitted to the project. And boy was it a BLAST! I got to go with one of my best friends and she enjoyed herself too.
Seeing the actors and fellow crewmembers was fun, every1 in down time, relaxing, laughing anf smiling...

The films were great, some more than others, but great. There was horror, comedy, romance, drama, mockumentary, all films ppl worked hard on, just like my team. Questions were asked of the directors afterward and people learned more about the project and the many aspects and challnges that one faces when competing.

But most of all it was wonderful seeing the finished project I had worked so hard on. And watching every1 else's sweat and creativity play out on the silver screen was the best!

Like I said before, so many good things to say, but there's so much more than that to be experienced. You want to know more about the competition:

check that out and you're in for a crazy two days of great film making!

Ok that's enough for me tonight. I heard the competition moves to another city next month ... idk sounds like fun =]

Later!
